SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 3 : REVIEW, FEATURES, PRICE AND SPECIFICATIONS

Gregory Lee, president of Samsung telecommunication recently launched the phone which was most awaited by the people Samsung Galaxy Note 3. They also launched the Galaxy Gear Smart watch in the event at Berlin. Note 3 is the third phablet and the next generation phone with screen of 5.7 inches. This Smartphone includes many new features apart from the features of previous Smartphone. This device will run on Jelly Bean which is 4.3.

What’s new in Samsung Galaxy Note 3?

This Smartphone is an evolution in the Android World. It has many new and exclusive features which makes it apart from this world. The Other version of note had the feature of Multi-window which is included in Note 3 with a Smart change in it. The main new features are as follows:

1. Running the same app in two different windows.
2. The S pen window which allows user to call up in between of any running app without interrupting it.
3. Multi Vision lets multiple users of the Galaxy note 3 actually combine their displays to display a single image.
4. The Samsung KNOX feature used for security.

• Display, Sound, Body and Camera:

With the screen of 5.7 inches, it has a super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors. It has high definition resolution of 1080 X 1920 pixels. It obviously supports multi-touch.  It also supports the Air-Touch which is seen in recently launched Galaxy Smartphone’s like S4, Note 2. It comes along with an S pen stylus. It has a universal jack of 3.5mm for Headphones.  It has soft velvet like exterior with classic looks and style, available in 3 colors (Jet Black, Classic White and Blush Pink) till now. Samsung has created a cover especially for Note 3 which leaves a Small Space visible to have quick asses to the notifications. This next generation of smartphone is supported with the 13 MP camera giving 4128 x 3096 pixels of pictures. It also supports Dual Shot, Simultaneously HD video and image recording, Geo tagging, touch focus, face and smile detections and HDR. Its Secondary camera is of 2MP giving a new experience of Video calling.

• Processor and Battery:

This Smartphone has Android OS, v4.3 (jelly bean). CPU of Quad-core 2.3 GHz / Quad-core 1.9 GHz Cortex-A15 And quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 (3G model). It supports various sensors such as Accelerometer, Gyro, Proximity, compass, Barometer, Temperature, Humidity, and Gestures. It also features Messaging, Browser, Radio, GPS and Java.

The battery life of this Smartphone works a day even after using it rough which includes Gaming, Chatting, Wi-Fi and many more. Precisely it has Li-lon 3200 mAh battery. Its stand-by time and talk time is not disclosed by now.

• Security (Samsung KNOX):

The Samsung Company has outfitted the Galaxy Note 3 with its enterprising-grade KNOX software. As this smartphone is an evolution to world of Smartphone it had to concern with the security of phone. User can activate Samsung KNOX and can be free about the security problems of the phone. This software has a Container in which all the user data and apps are stored safely. The security inside the Container is Protected from malware and phishing attacks (kind off hacking) by KNOX. In the IFA 2013 launch event Samsung gave the following example of KNOX system:

“‘Important personal pictures or video can be stored in the Container with no worries for data leakage due to hacking. In addition, users may choose to store enterprise applications and data such as corporate email, contacts and calendar and allow the IT department to manage the container through EAS (Exchange Active-sync Server).”

 

• S Pen Stylus Key features:

The Air Command menu which is specifically for the stylus includes all the features which apart the Note 3 from other Phablet Smartphones. As in Note 2 the quick command window which appears by dragging the stylus in upward direction by pressing the key on stylus in Note 3 the quick command window appears if you hover the Stylus on screen and press the button. The look of the quick command window in Note 3 is more awesome in looks as compared to note 2. The quick command window in Note 3 is Semi-circle menu with different options. Each one of the options in quick command window gets selected by tapping the command. Just by drawing a window on screen you can start a new application window, say, browsing or calling up someone. When you are done you just need to tap the screen and you are left back again from you had start of without any interruptions on the running applications.

The Price of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is expected to be 700 $ which is about 48,000 INR approximate.

After Samsung’s huge hit in launching a Next-Generation’s Smartphone, LG the South Koreanmultinational company which is fourth-largest company of its kind in South Korea launched a Smartphone in Competition with Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One and some more recently launched Smartphones. The design of LG G2 is Glossy, Smooth and thin. It easily catches fingerprints and smudges on its back. If you are used to a big Screen Smartphone that isn’t should be a problem. It also has a feature of Optical Image Stabilization which works best with phone’s fast processor.

Processor, Battery and Software:

LG G2 is an Android Smartphone with 4.2.2 jelly bean OS and some custom-made LG interface on top. It has all the features and function you would expect from a high-end phone. The phone is capable of handling everything we could throw at it with its 2.26GHz CPU with an Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of DDR3 RAM.  The G2’s UI is not as elegant compared to HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 but it is a way far better in its own kind. The KnockOn feature which adds a wow to the phone is also quite interesting. This feature allows you to awake the screen just by double clicking the screen without reaching the unlock button at the back of the phone. The Quick remote Feature which turn’s your device in a Universal Remote Control. One of the unique feature of G2.

Talking about battery this phone could managed to get a battery of 3000 mAh which allows it to get amazing standby of 2 days. Putting a considerable strain on the battery with frequent browsing, video viewing and gaming sessions, the LG G2 still lasted us the better part of a day and a half. With more managed use, a two day battery life would be achievable, just, and this puts the G2 a step up on the competition. However, the phone’s power supply is not removable so having a spare battery isn’t useful for emergency and heavy business use.

The price of LG G2 is around 750$ which is around 45000 INR approximately.

Micromax Turbo is the first Smartphone of Micromax with Full HD Resolutions that is 1920 x 1080 pixels (which normally all the phone has now a days like  Samsung’s S4, Sony’s Z1 and LG’s G2) and pixel density of 441 ppi of 5 inches. It has IPS LCD display panel with multi touch up to 5 points. It has no Screen Protection like Water-proof, Dust Proof and so on. SOUND and CAMERA:

This Smartphone will be the best of Micromax if these leaked specifications are true. It says this Phone will contain a Camera of 13MP with autofocus lens and LED flash, just like Canvas 4 did. The primary camera can shoot full HD videos at 30 FPS (Frames per Second) while the Front camera (rear camera) can shoot videos of 720P with a camera of 5MP. Talking about audio it can easily play popular multi-media formats such as .MP3, .MP4, .WAV, .OGG, .WMA, .WMV etc.

Processor, Battery and Connectivity:

The upcoming Smartphone is said to have a Mediatek MT6589T chipset, with a Quad core processor of 1.5GHz and 357MHz GPU. This Smartphone will come with an Android 4.2(Jelly Bean) version and can be later on updated to Android 4.3 soon after the launch. It will include a RAM of 2 GB and storage space of 16 GB internal and Expandable storage up to 64 GB via Micro SD card. It comes full suite of services from Google such as Gmail, Google Search, Google Now,Google Maps, Google Drive, Google Plus and Google Hangouts.

Talking about battery as usual Micromax Smartphone’s battery are long lasting with a standby up to full day. This Turbo has a battery of 2700 mAh Li-lon battery which will help it last throughout a day even after using it to maximum such as Dual SIM card, 3G HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.0 and Micro USB v2.0 Port.

Price:

There are no clues of price till now but as Micromax has its trend of launching a Mid-range Smartphone it’s price is expected to be around 20,000 (that is around 330 $) and will be releasing later in Mid-November.

Micromax the Highly developing Indian Smartphone Brand has come up with something new in their Smartphone Section of the Micromax Canvas series. This time they have a Mid-range Quad-Core smartphone known as the Micromax Canvas Ego also known as the A113. The A113 is a Dual sim capable device.

The Sound of the device is not as Crisp as of the Micromax Canvas 4 but of a fairly decent quality. The A113 is packed with an 8MP of rear camera with auto-focus and a led flash. The Phone is Capable of doing 720p (1280x720pixels) of video recording at 30fps. The videorecorded in 720p mode is not at all impressive. At the front we have a 2MP front facing camera which can be only used for Video Calling.

                          

Processor, Battery and Features:

The Micromax Canvas Ego is powered by the 1.2 Ghz Quad-Core processor working with 1 GB of RAM which gives user about 450mb of usable ram when the phone is Ideal. The Phone has an internal storage of 4GB which can be expandable up to 32GB with the help of Micro-SD. The A113 runs on an outdated android version 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). Hoping to get an updated version of android by Micromax. This fella is backed by a 2000-mAh Battery which will last up to 6hrs of 2g talk time.

So, my final verdict to the canvas Ego:

A pretty solid performer at the price range. The phone has a good 4.7inch display impressive for watching movie and playing Games. The phone also response good in gaming although it as Adreno 203 GPU. But the phone cannot play Full Hd video which may be disappointing to many users.

Price:

The phone is priced at (196 USD) Rs 11999/- on Flipkart or u may find it much cheaper in your local market.
